I will travel the world tonight in days In a hot air balloon of sewn duvets I will saddle the hoisters up, take loyster cups of tea Take a paddle in case I go too low into the sea Light the gasoline rag Balloon Adventure Drop the second sandbag Balloon Adventure To the mountain and to the ivory tower To the honey-o fields of Ovientar I will cover in olive oil the softest soil there is Take a compass to point me home and know just where it is Light the gasoline rag Balloon Adventure Drop the second sandbag Balloon Adventure

I know you will break my heart In the sunny season without any reason Autumn goes away too fast Like a Casanova, suddenly it's over Just another morning dream To make her head dizzy Just another setting sun Don't mean to hurt no one Did it cut away too fast Lay him down for treason, tape her down and tease him Eating till the heart's desire Taste the garden miso, till her eyes will see so

Catch that little boat of steel Catch that little boat Catch that little boat of steel Run the spitter-choke away Run the spitter-choke Run the spitter-choke away And she says it's a ... Marigan child And she starts to sigh ... Marigan child Touch that jeckle dog of gold Touch that jeckle dog Touch that jeckle dog of gold Turn that kettle cog of old Turn that kettle cog Turn that kettle cog of old And she says it's a ... Marigan child And she starts to sigh ... Marigan child Say it's alright

As the bomb falls down You don't have to say a word Close your eyes, my dear It's over soon She's a modern girl And her eyes are closing tight As the shrapnel hits the bedroom wall And that's all He's a writer man And his book is almost done Chapter seventeen The final scene As his pen goes down A distraction's overcome As she steals one kiss and whispers true "I love you" And she hold him tight With the strangest smile you've seen With her breath so warm She whispers on As the bomb falls down "You don't have to say a word; Close your eyes my dear, It's over soon ... it's over soon."

As the teddy glove is rolled here In a washing solvent In a washing well Soon though, teddy owner's judo Lesson ends in pseudo Fighting; hard to tell And it's over faster Than a train disaster As the owner's very precious Shiny golden treasures From the teddy's ma Dolka, teddy's owner stoked her Caught the fleeting joker ... didn't get too far And it's over faster Than a train disaster

Under the heavens shining so brightly Holding each other's fingers so tightly We'll go together Float on a feather Not knowing whether rain will come tonight But we'll be alright Over the land so low and so slightly Throw off and toss your fears of heights heightly We'll go together Float on a feather Not knowing whether rain will come tonight But we'll be alright Over the harbour views oh so slightly Fade off and cross your fingers so tightly We'll go together Float on a feather Not knowing whether rain will come tonight But we'll be alright ...

Darkest Day 02:26
On this darkest day On this darkest day On this day they don't try to listen They're just staring at the wall Tape the darkness down Tape the darkness down And these stars - they don't try to listen They're just scared forever more Understand that's all it is Understand that's all it is Understand that's all it is On this darkest day On this darkest day On this day they don't try to listen Read the morning paper at the weekly section Weekly news; lemon shares have risen They don't care a dime at all

Go to a party Helium Arty Duddum-dee wine that's oh so tarty That's why we go That's why we go When it's all over How long did it go for How long to see the sun go over That's why we go That's why we go Who stole the sand from the hourglass at hand Who caught the light from the embers of time From the end of the road ... end of the road From the end of the road ... end of the road Eighty and over Living in Dover When you fall off your chair it's over That's why we go That's why we go I'm a new voter And a receiver And I'm a tiny bean believer And that is why And that is why Who stole that sand form the hourglass at hand Who caught the light form the embers of time From the end of the road ... end of the road From the end of the road ... end of the road End of the road

about

In the year 2000 my New Zealand friend John White made a beautiful and simple album, Balloon Adventure. When I got it, I listened to it every day for at least nine months; it was sonic comfort to me.

As I learned the songs I imagined how someday I might like to arrange versions of them. Years later when I needed a therapeutic project, I did just that. I hope you like my tribute to John White's Balloon Adventure.
